We want to thank you so much for being a part of our mission as we have aimed to impact a generation with the love and power of Christ for the past 4 years. God has been incredibly faithful. Unashamed Impact kicked off as a twitter hashtag, simply encouraging the young Christian feeling alone in the world to not be ashamed of their faith and live out what it means to be an authentic Christ follower in their city. In 2012, we went viral with this mission, and saw thousands of youth and young adults pledge to be an Unashamed Impact in their city. This led to the organization of local city teams made up of young Christians who carried out our 4-part mission to: fellowship, make an impact (through social justice and community outreach), be an example and evangelize. Our teams exploded from South Africa, to Kenya, to the Dominican Republic and in cities across the US. Unashamed Impact’s online initiatives such as the 90 Day Bible Challenge where hundreds of people across the globe decided to join us in reading the Bible from start to finish or Speak for the Silenced encouraging Christians to be a voice of support for the persecuted church, have all been mind-blowing experiences. Not to mention the numerous connections we’ve been able to make with those of you who joined our online chats and small groups for daily fellowship. And the vision we all dreamed of- our life changing conference retreats in Dallas, TX each summer. Looking back, we couldn’t be more grateful for the calling God placed on our hearts and the young leaders He’s placed around us.
We’re humbled by seeing God’s hand in all of this and hearing about how much this movement has changed your walk, increased your faith and impacted your life. We’ve always been just a group of young guys and girls who had a passion for a God-purposed generation and were really no different than you. Many of us are on the career path- working, going to school and/or maintaining families. We love what we do and it’s always been 100% volunteer work from leadership to those who decided to engage in any part of our missions.
In the past year, many major, natural changes have taken place in the lives of our leaders and in the culture of our ministry that led us to make the decision to scale back on much of our work. It was most important that we held responsible and accountable to steward what God has given us well. We always agreed that we would not do things “just to be doing things or look good at doing them”, but that every initiative should be done responsibly, passionately and led by the Holy Spirit. If at any point we were not in that vein, it was time to take a step back and reevaluate our motives and where God was leading us. Cutting back was a step that we had much peace about after being in prayer.
Coming upon the end of this year, December 2016, after more prayer, counsel and evaluation we’ve come to the decision that it would be most responsible for us to close the doors of UI indefinitely. While this had been a heartbreaking decision we are also satisfied with all that God has done and how he has grown each of us through this experience. Most of all, it’s important to realize that no one’s mission ends here. God has a unique calling on each of our lives that begins and ends with Jesus, not with Unashamed Impact. And with that being said, we are excited and hopeful for the future and how God continues to use all of those who have been a part of our ministry. We believe the Holy Spirit will give you the wisdom to understand these things. We have prayed for all of you. We know that God will complete the work He has begun in you. Amen? Amen!
