Testimony: Together 2016

On Saturday, July 16, 2016, I attended the #Together2016 Christian concerts held by RESET. It was single-handedly one of the best days of my life. From arriving to the concerts safely to interceding for the life of an absolute stranger, God showed Himself mighty strong. He indeed is the GREAT I AM, and I am elated to share with you all the testimonies that came from the fervent prayers of this ministry effort.

Testimony #1: I left my house at 3:00AM to arrive at my local city bus terminal with no idea if a bus would even come that early. My close friend graciously purchased my ticket to arrive in Washington D.C. around 9:00AM. Because of the great distance, I know I had to arrive at the bus terminal by 3:45. As I prayed I simply committed myself, the trip, and the entire event in the hands of Jesus. I walked literally by faith saying that a bus would arrive within the five minutes that I got to the bus stop. I arrived at 3:06, and the only bus that was running that hour came at 3:07!

Testimony #2: As we arrived to the National Mall, there was an amazing calmness and atmosphere of worship already there. Jesus met us there as we saw thousands, even hundreds of thousands, of Christians from all over the country in intercessory prayer. We prayed for this nation; we prayed that we, ourselves, would GO to the nations. This served as a tremendous form of confirmation because I literally spent all of my entire time of travel to D.C. mediating on Matthew 28:19-20.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Testimony #3: I was able to reconnect with friends from college who attended the same church with me. We all decided to go eat at Cosi and immediately went to order food. As I secure tables, people asked for a seat due to the heat. An elderly lady asked to be seated, and I immediately obliged. I didn’t evangelize or preach anything to her, but I have learned that simply being good to others in a Christ-like manner also gives Him glory. I gave her a pamphlet from the event to use as a fan. She smiled and thanked me for the seat. Just her smile alone, as an elderly Caucasian woman, confirmed to me that the current racial tension in our country can and will be dismantled through love - not hate.

Testimony #4: As we ate at Cosi, a group of young women came into the restaurant needed a chair for a friend who was suffering from heat exhaustion. She was literally in a daze, and we immediately began to pray. We offered water, and one of my friends, who thankfully is a certified nurse, was able to tend to her needs as we continue to pray. She recovered and later was taken to the hospital for safety purposes only. Being in the right place at the right time with the right prayers can change the world as long as we, God’s people, are willing to pray and serve.

Testimony #5: The event ended early. Because of the great intensity of the heat, emergency services requested that the event be shut down. After Pastor Tony Evans and Francis Chan gave prayers of commission, there were two additional songs by HillSong that ended the event. It was simply the sweet part of the entire day as we all worshipped and calmly left with the Great Commission to evangelize to others. I distinctly remember a pastor and leader of this event sharing that they have prayed for five years for this event. It was a humbling word for me to remember that God is in absolute control and that I must wait on HIS TIMING. As we left, I went home and got to meet even more fellow believers on the way home. We fellow-shipped, hugged, prayed, and landed safely back to my hometown. God was FAITHFUL FROM START TO FINISH.

From catching the only available bus right on time that early morning to fulfilling the prophetic word to “go” by witnessing to a woman briefly that late evening, Together 2016 was simply an amazing testimony of the goodness of God. If you do not know Jesus as your Lord, Savior, and King, please take this time to get to know Him. He is real. He is faithful. He is in love with you and has loved you for an entire eternity. He will use you, YES YOU, to do a tremendous work in this earth. Never think that what you are doing is too small or insignificant. You are world changer. Now, it is time to go.

God bless you,
