“My God sent his angel, who shut the mouths of the lions so that they would not hurt me.” - Daniel 6:22
The lions’ mouths were closed shut. And why was this done? The mouth of a lion can cause damage. Just as lions could do damage when their mouths are open, we can do the same “damage” but for the Glory of God.
“...the righteous are as bold as lions” - Proverbs 28:1
We aren't called to sit back and stay quiet, especially in the days we are in. We are living in the end times, yes I said it, and there's proof of it everywhere you look all over the world. The world is killing the church both physically and mentally. We are at the highest for martyrs globally and the church has died down. We have left teaching the BIBLICAL TRUTH for warm and fuzzy Christian sermons and teachings. WE ARE THE CHURCH and it's time to stand up and ROAR and stop letting the enemy try to keep our mouths shut and keep the truth from getting out!
Satan wants to keep us quiet. He wants to shut our mouths. Satan wants to be the one roaring in everyone's ears and keep the truth in silent whispers unheard. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. -1 Peter 5:8. He wants to speak death and lies over everyone's lives and he speaks it over us to make sure we won't open our mouths.
“You aren't good enough or talented enough to speak…”
“They're gonna hate you when you tell them the truth…”
“Don't you know your past, how can you talk to someone about Christ?”
“No one is going to listen to you…”
“No one lives by the Bible anymore, you don't have to tell them the truth, they won't listen anyways…”
“You can't really help that person by praying for them, there's no power in your words. God's not going to listen to you…”
Have you ever thought these things, these lies that Satan tries to put inside our minds? Satan is called the father of lies for a reason. He wants to fill us with LIES to drown out the TRUTH that is inside of us.
So why does Satan want to keep our mouths shut?
1. When we except Jesus as our Lord and Savior, as I've heard people say, Jesus then “lives in my heart”. Then let's take a look at scripture. John 14:6; Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life”. Let's put any emphasis on truth. Jesus = Truth, so that means with Jesus in our hearts we also have truth. And what exactly is so important about truth? John 8:32 states “and the truth will set you free.” Truth= Freedom. We have a truth inside of us that sets people free!
2. Satan wants to keep our mouths shut right now because people need the truth more than ever. We have diluted the truth to make people happy. “Oh you can live however you want it doesn't matter”. Hello Church! WAKE UP! John 17:17 says “Sanctify them by the truth, your word the truth.” Let's stop playing games with the truth and get back to the real truth which is the Word of God. We are called to be separated and sanctified, and we do that by living by the Word and the Word alone, the real truth, not something we created on our own.
3. Okay so we've established that Jesus = Truth. So what else does that mean? James 2:19 says, “Even the demons believe this, and they will tremble in terror.” Demons tremble at this truth. So why wouldn't we want to speak about it? When we speak truth, get past these lies and use our mouth in the correct way to spread that truth we tear Hell apart.
4. Another reason we tear Hell apart and Satan wants to keep our mouths shut is because our mouths are weapons. Time and time again throughout the Bible we see people speaking truth over their own lives and over lives of others. We see the power behind the truth people spoke, we see demons cast out and people healed all because people chose to open their mouths. When we use our voice and our mouths as the weapons they are, we see God move and we create damage to the plans Satan has tried to create to destroy us and those around us.
So not only do we create “damage” but God hears our cries and hears our pleas. When we open our mouths and speak Truth, we will see things that God begins to shift and change. When we open our mouths it's not our own power inside of us but the power of Christ in us that begins to do this. We'll see miracles happen; chains will be broken, people will be healed, delivered and saved because we chose to open our mouths and share the power of Christ with others. Just like in the story of Daniel, Satan tried to shut his mouth and keep Him from prayer, but Daniel was faithful and continued to open his mouth and continued to turn to God in prayer. What did God do in return? He shut the mouth of the enemy, protected Daniel, and received the glory and honor He deserved.
It's time to no longer listen to the lies of the enemy and let him keep us silent, but stand up, roar, and use our mouths as the weapons they are!
