We’re living in a society where culture is real, where revival is among us. Jesus wants us back, he’s crying out for his people. Satan has basically stolen this generation of children. We have a generation of teenagers who rather turn up in the club then turn up for Jesus. They rather fight and gossip then get together and have bible study. Why is it that the churches only have a handful of youth, or why is it that the churches can’t hold the attention of our young ones? After they graduate high school and turn 18…it’s so easy for the world to snatch them up. Yea college has their campus ministries but how strong is that versus the millions of flyers to the latest parties that get passed around in their dorms. We have faith but how do we hold on to the faith and continue to walk in the light. Don’t get trapped in the darkness, how as misfits do we keep that interest in Jesus?

In my last blog, I made mention of faith. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised) (Hebrews 10:23) (KJV) now having faith is great, but what happens when temptation is stronger than your faith? This is when Misfits come into action…misfits are a young generation of teenagers turning up for Christ (Unashamed Impact). They’re standing out and making a difference in themselves, and in the city.

Friendship
Friendship

As a young generation growing up during these times, it can be hard finding friends that are similar to you when everyone is out doing whatever the world is doing. Trust Me!!! I can relate, growing up I stood out like a sour green thumb. I come from a religious background, so just imagine going through grade school in long skirts. I had friends but I definitely wasn’t popular. My friends wasn’t saved either because of that I found myself acting like them more than acting like the way I knew to act. I cussed, and caught attitudes with the teachers…not Christ like at all. That was my generation of growing up because I didn’t have like minded friends also my church was located 45mins from my hometown and then there was only about 4 young people who attended the same church. I didn’t have any accountability partners growing up so you can just imagine what happen when I turned 18. We need more young people (misfits) who are bold in their faith, standing up for Jesus.

Teenagers are just like babies, they soak up whatever is going on at the time…so if something is the latest trend best believe your friends is tagging along. Teenagers aren’t listening to adults about going to church and giving their lives up for Christ. Sometimes adults can be extreme when it comes to our youth going to church, that’s why it’s going to take a Joshua generation to take their cities by storm.

being different

Nothing is wrong with being "strange", you are the leader and not the follower…the only person you should be following is Jesus. Everyday something in our educational system takes place where they hinder Christians from representing Jesus. But enough is enough be the first during your school lunch to bring up Jesus. You never know who has questions and maybe comfortable with opening up to you. If I knew someone was interested in Jesus while I was going through grade school oh boy I most likely would have jumped in the conversation. I wasn’t bold but I know some of you are. I wish I had Unashamed Impact when I was a teenager, but no complaints. I have it now and I have changed. Don’t let anyone stop you from representing Jesus Christ.

You’re a misfit: a young generation turning up for Christ. I love this scripture because it’s what UI is built on…Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity (1 Tim 4:12) (KJV). Just imagine being that young person in school or just in your city who stood out and made a difference.

Have a great day in Jesus.
