I’m going to put a little bit of my business out there. I am an artist by gift and trade so I would like to paint a picture, vivid and clear, that you will feel as though you were living it in first person.
A few of weeks ago, I was pulled aside at my place of employment. The owner was giving notice to a majority of the staff that he was sorry to say the company is no longer financially sound and is having to downsize. Well, not only am I the sole provider for my family at this time but it had to happen on my wife's birthday.
This summer, she graduated college with high honors and has been extremely frustrated trying to land something in her field of expertise. I remained prayerful. I must be honest; I was pretty shaken and distraught. But I was reminded time and time again of the text in Matthew 6, “Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?”, and just how fitting it was at the moment. I decided it best to carry on with my wife’s birthday plans and discuss the job situation the following day.
As planned, the next day, I spoke with my spouse on the situation as we were heading home from our nephews’ soccer games. To add to the list of concerns, she noticed a headlight had gone out. We made a stop by the local auto supply store to find the cost of this tiny bulb was just over $50. Of course, this would be a fraction of the charge of a ticket for a headlight out, but neither were affordable at the time. As if things couldn’t get any worse, right! Already on a check-to-check budget and now this! I walked out of the store to the car, detached the light assembly and remove the bulb from the socket. Bling! As the shines brightly, the familiar glimpse of hope I have experienced many times before comes with the words “I’ve got you”.
Last weekend, a group of Dallas UI family & friends had a fellowship gathering. During the time together, the group prayed over us for peace and provision. To say “our God delivered” would be somewhat of an understatement. Though my spouse and I are still in search for new positions, bills have somehow been reduced or credited completely, a random check came in the mail, and we found that $50 replacement bulb for $7.49 at Kroger, of all places. I know we’re not out of the woods yet, but I am positive that He is with us. He knows our needs and desires. He provides them all in alignment to His will. He’s got you!
