You are struggling with trying to let go. It seems like you are the only person going through it, but rest assure that you are not alone. I can tell you that someone, somewhere, is going through what you see as misery right now. I don’t know what you may be going through: pain from getting over the hurt in your past, alcohol addiction, drug addiction, sex addiction, etc. We can get through this. The Bible tells us to bear each other’s burdens (Galatians 6:2) simply because we can help one another. Do not hold it in; it will only make the problem worse.
I speak from experience. I remember when I was in the lowest, darkest season in my life where I could not even open up to my two best friends because, in my mind, I already figured they would not understand. So I rebelled against God and anything that resembled God. I remember one day I was in my bedroom balling my eyes out and I had no idea why.
So I prayed, right there on the floor, and as I was praying I grabbed by Bible and opened it to Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” I literally heard the Lord speaking to me in that verse and when I tell you it felt like a weight off my shoulder, it was amazing. My best friend called me the next day and invited me to a retreat that weekend and at first, I declined, because it was last minute but the Holy Spirit prompted me to say yes. During that time, isolated from everyone and everything, I was able to tell my sisters in the Lord what I have been going through. It helped me grow closer to the Lord. The Lord heard my cry that night.
When we are so used to the motions of our situations, we never seem to see that Jesus already knows, and His Word reassures that we are not alone. In 1 Peter 5:9, the last part of the verse says your brethren that are in the world experience the same afflictions. Yes your struggling but you are not alone!
I can only say this because I know people who come from different walks of life that tell me what they are going through. Some, I can relate and understand, but others I could not imagine going through myself. So to those who think you don't have a way out of your situation, turn your eyes to the Lord. He will protect you and guide you in ways that only He can!
I pray for that person right now who feels so alone; that Jesus comforts your heart right now. I pray that you are able to speak about your issues and not hold it in. I pray that you come to know Christ deeper than ever before and be reminded that Christ will never leave or forsake you. I pray for healing for those who are hurting and comfort to those who are mourning. In Jesus name, Amen.
