Are You REALLY Living?

Are You REALLY Living?

A wise person thinks a lot about death, while a fool thinks only about having a good time. (Ecclesiastes 7:4 NLT)

Wait. Wait. Wait. Clearly this is depressing. I mean...who wants to think a lot about death? Are you sure about this one Solomon?

In contrast, this is SUCH a powerful scripture. When we think about death it is very sobering. And you’ve probably felt this attending a funeral. We realize that life is short and everything is temporary. That NOTHING matters here but what we leave behind. That this is not our home so we strive for the Kingdom. It sets our entire existence into focus!

1 out of 1 people will die – including me and you. That could be years later or even tomorrow. And get this, dying is easy…it’s what you do while you’re living that’s the challenge. When we think about the fact that our days are numbered it PUSHES us to get serious about our purpose! Some of you are living, just dragging along day to day as if you’re going to go on living like this forever. Wake up! You’re NOT going to live here forever. Each of us have an expiration date. There’s no time to waste time. There’s no time to live a shallow life of how greatly you can enjoy life for your own pleasures. If you live for yourself you will die for yourself leaving nothing but dust.

The thought of death should give us LIFE (ironically) knowing that we’ve got ONE shot to do what we were created for, ONE shot here to make God proud, ONE shot to create a wave of change in the Earth. It should propel us to give it all we got! Out of all eternity God sent you NOW to play your part in the history of the world. So are you playing your part? Or are you dragging along. Are you LIVING or just existing? A wise person is balanced with the reality to think of death enough to live a focused life of purpose while they have the chance. Don’t take a single day for granted.
