Finding Solid Hope

Yesterday evening I was meant to be playing in an orchestral concert that I had been working hard for and looking forward to for a very long time. On Saturday I’d had a day full of rehearsals and a concert for a different event, so by the time it came to Sunday I was already pretty worn out.

Testimony: My Story

This Thanksgiving I returned to my alma mater where I was surrounded by students from all over the world, many of whom were celebrating the holiday for the first time. As part of the international student family on campus, they were invited to spend the day with a family that works at the college and lives in a neighboring town.

Enjoying The Perks of Being Single

It is a difficult season for many of us out here who wants to find that companion but do not want to settle for anyone. I understand completely, so I ask you that you allow God to use you this season.

What Does Christian Friendship Look Like?

Most of my closest friends are Jesus followers and most of the people whom I’ve instantly ‘clicked’ with are those who love God. Perhaps this is because we have something, someone, incredible in common.

Singles: 3 Ways of Honoring The Relationships of Others

Are you experiencing an attraction toward someone in an unwed relationship?  I’ve been there.  While there, our faithful God has invited me to consider the following.

Christianity Isn't About Us

when I say that our culture revolves too much around the individual person and their feelings, I mean that we’re being trained and influenced to base our perceptions, decisions, and actions on what feels “right” or makes us most comfortable at any given point in time.

Reflections on Reformation Day

It isn’t hard to look around see that our generation is usually disinterested with, or even hostile toward, the concept of history, tradition, and orthodoxy. We tend to neglect the wisdom and example – both good and bad – of past generations in favor of our own schemes and achievements, and we congratulate ourselves in the end that we were able to figure things out on our own.

Comparison: Killer of Creativity

I once came across a great quote that has impacted me ever since I first heard it: ‘Comparison is the killer of creativity.’ What are the real dangers of comparison, and how can we avoid it?

Suffering: Persecution of God's Church

Right now I am considering YouTubing one of my favorite Christian rappers. As the thought of Andy Mineo’s “Know that’s Right” fades out of my mental forefront, a much bleaker image fills it – the image of the persecuted church.

Trusting God through a Broken Heart

I think many of us have been in similar situations as I, where you have been a relationship and it suddenly comes to an end. You quickly forget about all the good times together and you are reminded of the crushing blow that you and that person are no longer together.

Testimony: The Atheist Meeting

The door swung open and loudly slammed into the wall. The echo skipped down the hallway and into the meeting room where the double doors still stood open, welcoming late comers. As I stepped around Miranda, I could at least a dozen pairs of eyes ogling us as we stood in the doorway.

Let These Two Things Never Be Said of You

We know what we’d like to be called, “friend,” “fun,” and “athletic,” “creative.”  But have you considered what you’d hate to be called?

Exercising Christian "Customer Service"

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” - Colossians 3:23 NKJV

Forgiven At The Cross

Some of us have experienced horrible pasts. We wish we could have changed something if we had had the chance to. We can’t complain to ourselves let alone talk to someone else about it.

Choosing Belief over an Ocean of Doubt

The last time I sat down to write, I was hit right in the middle of it by the realization that I hardly believed any of the words I was typing. I remember sitting back in my desk chair and staring at the panes in the window.

Christian Singles: Don't Settle

I’ve always seen the posts of “The next person I date will be the one I marry” or “The next person I date will be the person I spend forever with.” Forever? Marriage?

4 Ways to Resist Sexual Temptation

It seems to be all around us. The TV, social media, and in our everyday lives. It seems we cannot even go through one single day without encountering it.

Defining Christian Success

It seems to me as though the concept of success is becoming more and more prominent in our modern day lives. From gaining a certain amount of likes on Instagram to graduating college, we are living in a culture that is obsessed with succeeding, whatever that looks like.
